Bags

Carrying his hardships in a bag
he walked up the hill.
He saw her sitting on a moss covered boulder;
her bag on the ground
and face in her hands.
Sitting beside his friend,
he put an arm around her
and pulled her into a hug.
As her sobs receded,
he pulled her to her feet,
and picked up her bag.
“I can carry this for you a while”
he said as he continued up the hill.
Wiping a tear away,
she ran to catch up,
and grabbed his hand.
With a smile on his face,
he kissed her forehead
and they continued their journey
together.
